Payments and Insurance

Payment options

OMC Advanced Vision Diagnostics and LASIK Services understands that vision correction surgery is an investment and we offer different payment options to help make corrective surgery as affordable as possible.

Payment is due on the day of surgery. You will be asked to provide payment at this time unless prior arrangements have been made.

We want corrective eye surgery to be a viable option for all candidates. Please call our office at 507.218.3777 with questions or concerns regarding payment options.

We have two financing companies that offer a 0% interest option, but have different approval criteria:

  • CareCredit. Provides credit for LASIK or other elective procedures, by offering short-term, 0% interest payment plans as well as low-interest, extended payment plans. CareCredit has no up-front costs, fees, or pre-payment penalties. Apply now.
  • Alphaeon Credit. Provides a financing option for LASIK or other elective procedures. Alphaeon features a Budget Pay Plan, which sets a fixed monthly payment. They also offer Equal Pay Plan and no interest options. Alphaeon Credit has no up-front costs, annual fees, or pre-payment penalties. Apply now.

Flexible spending accounts

Flexible spending accounts (also known as flexible spending arrangements) are pre-tax accounts that can be used to cover vision correction costs. Once your eligibility for a procedure is determined, you can use existing account funds or set up a health care flexible spending account during your benefits open enrollment if your employer offers this option.

In addition, the IRS deems laser eye surgery a valid medical expense, thus qualifying the use of HSA (Health Savings Account) funds for payment of the procedure.

Non-financing options

OMC accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, personal check, or cash to pay for health care expenses.

Generally, most patients are eligible for vision enhancement. However, there are a few exceptions. Further refractive procedures may not be medically advisable for patients who have:

  • Lost vision as the result of trauma or injury to the eye occurring after their initial LASIK procedure
  • Corneas that are too thin to safely perform an enhancement, as determined by OMC’s Advanced Vision Diagnostics and LASIK Services surgeon
  • Other non-vision correction-related medical issues of the eye and/or other medical issues that might affect the outcome or results of an enhancement procedure, as determined by OMC’s Advanced Vision Diagnostics and LASIK Services surgeon
  • Had prior vision correction procedures, including but not limited to radial keratotomy (RK), automated lamellar keratoplasty (ALK), and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK)

Other exclusions include:

  • Patients seeking an enhancement due to the natural progression of presbyopia (gradual loss of near vision)
  • Patients who had their initial LASIK procedure performed by another provider
  • Patients who do not follow all pre- and post-operative guidelines
  • Travel costs and other related costs are not included

Cost calculator

An interactive cost calculator can assist you in estimating the cost of LASIK surgery, including monthly payments and any potential savings over your current vision correction method (e.g., contact lenses).

Estimates for LASIK and other types of eye surgery can also be provided by OMC Advanced Vision Diagnostics and LASIK Services.
