Our Services and Locations

OMC’s rehabilitation services encompass physical therapy, occupational rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary therapy, and industrial rehabilitation. These teams work with social workers, community resources, home health services, care facilities, and other resources to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.

We provide outpatient services Monday – Friday from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM at Rochester Northwest Clinic and Elton Hills locations. In addition, we provider outpatient services Mondays (8:00AM - 12 noon), Wednesdays (8:00AM - 5:00PM), and Thursdays (8:00AM - 12 noon) at OMC - Lake City.

We provide limited coverage at the WHP, Orthopedics (Hospital), and Southeast Clinic.

A multidisciplinary team of rehabilitative specialists offers these services to patients:

  • Musculoskeletal pain elimination and prevention
  • Relief from spinal discomfort, including back and neck pain, disc problems, post back surgery, and muscle spasms
  • Restored function following orthopedic procedures (e.g., knee, hip, and shoulder replacement or reparative surgery)
  • Movement recovery/enhancement from tendinitis, bursitis, "frozen shoulder," and arthritis
  • Functional improvement from neurological conditions (MS, strokes, Parkinson’s, muscular dystrophy)
  • Complex decongestive treatments for lymphedema
  • Hand therapy, including custom splinting
  • Evaluation and improvement of dysphasia (swallowing difficulties)
  • Recovery from post-surgical pain and functional limitations
  • Athletic injury recovery
  • Throwing instruction
  • Perinatal and prenatal rehabilitation
  • Evaluation of pain during intercourse or pelvic annual exams
  • Preparation for radiation therapy or reconstructive therapy following mastectomy
  • Improvement of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Vestibular rehabilitation for dizziness, imbalance, and concussions
  • Cardiac and pulmonary conditioning / strengthening
  • Therapy with dry needling
  • Fall prevention
  • Stretching programs
  • Wheelchair fittings, traction devices and other durable medical supplies
  • Dysphagia evaluation (referral needed)
  • Referrals and complete care coordination

Industrial Rehabilitation services:

  • Workers compensation
  • Functional Capacity Assessment
  • Post-offer/pre-placement job specific testing
  • On-site safe lifting training or ergonomic assessments
  • Creation of business stretching programs

Specific techniques utilized:

  • Custom splinting & off-the-shelf splint customization
  • Orthotic and prosthetic fabrication and/or training
  • Rehabilitative Pilates & Yoga
  • Dry needling (with/without electrical stimulation)
  • Graston technique (deep tissue massage technique)
  • Frenzel lenses (utilized with vertigo patients)
  • Manual therapy
  • Functional Movement Screen (FMS)
  • Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA)

Equipment training offered:

  • Use of assistive devices (walkers, crutches, canes) – patient to obtain device through third party vendor
  • Education on transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) or muscle re-education electrical devices – help patient obtain device through a third party vendor
  • Training in adaptive equipment and training in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Wheelchair/scooter assessment, consultation, fitting, and recommendations

  • Phase 4 Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Golf program -TPI certified (outpatient and cash based)
  • Running program (outpatient and cash based)
  • MS clinic (collaboration with Neurology department)
  • “Big and Loud” program for Parkinson’s patients (outpatient and cash-based programs)
  • Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance® (cash-based program)
  • Throwing (outpatient and cash-based)
  • Dry Needling (outpatient and cash-based)

We provide physical and occupational inpatient treatment at the hospital Monday – Friday with physical therapy coverage as medically indicated on weekends and holidays.

No referrals are needed to use OMC’s rehabilitation services. Patients can be seen for 90 days before physician approval is required. Many services are available to inpatients following injury or surgery before they leave the hospital.
