Why should I consider weight loss surgery?

Weight loss can not only improve your quality of life, but also prevent or lower your risk of developing life-threatening diseases. If you meet the criteria to be eligible for weight loss surgery and you have been unsuccessful with weight loss programs and diets in the past you may want to consider one of our surgical weight loss options.

How does the adjustable gastric band work?

An adjustable silicone band is surgically inserted and placed around the upper part of the stomach. The band is connected by a thin tubing to an access port just below your skin.

Through this port, your surgeon adjusts the band’s fit by inflating or deflating its inner lining with a saline solution. The band will reduce your stomach’s size and restrict the amount of food you are able to eat at one time.

With an adjustable gastric band you will feel fuller sooner and stay fuller longer, so you eat less. Patients usually lose a healthy one to two pounds per week on average.

How much will the surgery cost and will my insurance cover it?

The cost of the surgery is variable and you will have the opportunity to meet with an OMC patient financial counselor before starting the adjustable gastric band program at OMC.

We will help verify benefits before scheduling any appointments with the bariatric program. For many patients health insurance will cover the adjustable gastric band if you meet the insurance guidelines.

OMC also offers a bank loan program for qualifying patients.
