Department mission: To develop and disseminate information that is necessary to understand, change, and improve healthcare for communities and primary care patients.

Striving for innovation, our researchers study diseases and conditions, including the effect of diseases on people’s lives and the value of treatment in preventing, curing, and improving the outcomes of diseases. Our focus is on common disease or conditions in our community populations.

The Research department is directed by Barbara Yawn, MD, and is a key partner in studies of the health of populations in Olmsted County and throughout the U.S. The department has initiated several national studies to improve the health and medical care of all Americans.
