Expecting a baby

Understanding that labor is a healthy, natural process, OMC encourages families to become active participants in the entire birth experience. Offering family-centered care from early pregnancy to baby’s arrival, our BirthCenter’s facilities and caregivers work hard to provide the best possible birthing experience for you.

We know your birth experience is one of the most important events in your life. Most likely, you are experiencing strong emotions, dreams, and uncertainty in anticipation of your child’s birth. Our staff will walk with you on your journey, providing exceptional medical care, support, and understanding.

Whenever possible, we respect our patients' definitions of "family" where visitation is concerned, and are open to visitors from 1:00–9:00 PM each day. This ensures that you have the support you need from family members as well as the best clinical care.

Labor, Delivery, Recovery, & Postpartum (LDRP) Care

Single-room maternity care, also known as Labor, Deliver, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) care, is standard at our BirthCenter. Usually, unless in need of emergency care, expectant moms never change rooms. Each of our private rooms is warmly decorated and provides a comfortable environment for mom, baby, and family.

We offer new mothers and their partners a complimentary special meal the night before they leave the hospital.

One-to-one Care

We provide mother-baby nursing care. The same nurse who cares for mom will care for baby. This increases the consistency of care and provides comfort for new parents.

Rooming In

We practice “rooming-in” aftercare. Baby stays with his/her new parent(s) as much as possible. The time immediately after birth is a valuable opportunity for babies and families—babies thrive on the nurturing qualities of familiar voices and touch, and family members gain precious moments to bond with their new arrival.

OMC provides inpatients “on demand” room service. Patients may call and request their choice of meals delivered to their room at times that accommodate their personal schedule. Menus are coordinated by registered dietitians and prepared fresh onsite. Special dietary restrictions are accommodated, including food intolerances, food allergies, and cultural/religious preferences.

Low Complication and Cesarean Birth Rates

The BirthCenter’s primary cesarean birth rate meets World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations that cesarean birth rates should not be higher than 10% to 15%. When complications arise, the BirthCenter is well equipped for any emergency. Anesthesiologists are available at all times, and our pediatric team is available to respond to your and your baby’s needs 24 hours a day.

Prenatal Education and Breastfeeding Support

OMC provides prenatal and breastfeeding education and support through classroom and one-to-one settings, up-to-date materials, and resources and a variety of programs that support and equip expectant parents from early pregnancy into labor, postpartum, breastfeeding, and early parenting.
