vNOTES: Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery
vNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) is a type of minimally invasive surgery used to treat certain gynecologic conditions.
Instead of making cuts on your abdomen, your surgeon uses special instruments placed through the vagina to reach the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. This means no visible incisions on your skin.
Because of this approach, most patients experience less pain and a quicker recovery compared to other ways of doing surgery.
Conditions We Treat with vNOTES
vNOTES may be used to treat:
- ovarian cysts
- uterine fibroids
- abnormal uterine bleeding
- adenomyosis.
Procedures We Offer
Using vNOTES, your provider may perform:
- hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)
- salpingectomy (removal of one or both fallopian tubes for permanent sterilization - "tying the tubes" - or for other reasons)
- oophorectomy (removal of one or both ovaries)
- removal of ovarian cysts.
Benefits of vNOTES
- No visible scars
- Less pain after surgery
- Less need for pain medication
- Same-day discharge from the hospital
- Faster return to normal activities
