Nephrology
OMC’s nephrology team provides comprehensive care for adult and pediatric patients with kidney-related conditions, including general kidney health assessments and management of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Patient care services include blood pressure management, electrolyte monitoring, kidney biopsies, dialysis management, and treatments for glomerulonephritis, kidney stones, and other kidney disorders.
When indicated, the nephrology care team conducts thorough kidney evaluations, supplemented by imaging and lab work to monitor kidney function and progression of kidney diseases.
It’s also important to get regular kidney function tests, especially if you have a family history of kidney disease, diabetes, or hypertension. Early detection and treatment can help slow the progression of kidney disease.
Early stages of kidney disease often have no symptoms, but as the disease progresses, common signs include:
- fatigue and lack of energy
- swelling in your hands, feet, or face
- changes in urination (increased frequency, foamy urine, or difficulty urinating)
- high blood pressure that is difficult to control
- muscle cramps or feeling weak.
If you experience any of these symptoms, schedule an appointment with a nephrologist to evaluate your kidney function.
