Meet Dr. Mahsa Smoot

Dr. Mahsa SmootMahsa Moghaddam Smoot, MD, provides quality and personalized care as she helps her patients improve their quality of life and confidence.

Education and Training

Dr. Smoot received her medical degree from the University of Sydney in Australia and completed her residency in general surgery and plastic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She also completed a fellowship in pediatric craniofacial surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, to learn more about helping children with congenital deformities.

Helping her Patients

Dr. Smoot moved back to Minnesota in 2013 and practiced in the Twin Cities before joining the team at Olmsted Medical Center. She enjoys working with children and adults alike.

When asked what she likes about being a plastic surgeon, Dr. Smoot shared, “I love plastic surgery because it is diverse, creative, and transformative. I contribute to my patients’ health by improving their quality of life and restoring their confidence. I am passionate about patient education and engagement. I emphasize quality and personalized care.”

About Dr. Smoot

Born in Tehran, Iran, she moved to Rome, Italy, as a young child. In 1991, she moved with her family to the United States, on the day the U.S. played Italy in the World Cup (and Italy won). She chose to study medicine because of her love of anatomy and physiology and because of her desire to help others in their time of need.

She lives locally with her family and is fluent in English, Italian, and Farsi. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling, scuba diving, reading, and cooking for her family.
