Why Choose OMC Psychiatry & Psychology?
Mental health care is some of the most personal and sensitive care a patient receives. Our psychiatrists, psychologists, and support staff build strong, trusting relationships with patients to ensure treatment is comfortable and effective.
Intake Process
We carefully match each patient with the most appropriate provider.
Comprehensive Team
Our providers specialize in caring for children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Conditions We Treat
We care for people experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including:
- depression and other mood disorders
- bipolar disorder
- schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder
- anxiety-related conditions, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and health anxiety
- adjustment disorders (difficulty coping with life changes or stress)
- somatic symptom disorder (physical symptoms linked to stress or emotional health)
- attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- sleep concerns, including insomnia (using behavioral approaches)
- personality disorders.
This is not a complete list. If you’re unsure whether we can help, we encourage you to reach out—we’re happy to guide you to the right care.
Please note: We do not provide treatment for substance use or chemical dependency as a primary reason for care. If this is your main concern, we can help connect you with appropriate resources.
Our Services
We offer a variety of treatment and support options:
- Confidential psychotherapy: Delivery of evidence-based psychotherapies in a supportive environment
- Medication management: Evidence-based prescribing and monitoring by our psychiatrists
- Telemedicine services: Certain services are available virtually when an in-person visit isn’t possible
- Outreach services: Our mental health providers are available at OMC branch clinics at the Rochester Northwest Clinic and the Owatonna Clinic, with plans to expand further through in-person and telehealth care
- Coordinated care: If you need more intensive treatment or a service not available at OMC, we coordinate your care with collaborating facilities in the region
Crisis and Urgent Care
OMC’s Psychiatry & Psychology department does not provide crisis or urgent care services. If you or your child is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988, or go to the nearest emergency department for immediate support.
Psychiatry vs. Psychology: Which is Right for You?
Our intake process helps determine the best provider for your needs. In some cases, you may see:
- psychiatrists, who provide medical and medication management and assessments of psychiatric disorders
- psychologists, who provide psychotherapy and psychological testing
- both, if a combined approach will best support your treatment.
