Scheduling an Appointment for a COVID-19 Test

Patients can schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 test through the OMC MyChart Symptom Checker.  After you sign into your OMC MyChart account, select “Symptom Checker” from the Menu.

After answering a series of questions regarding COVID-19, you will be able to schedule an appointment for yourself or someone else.

If scheduling an appointment for someone else, such as a family member, you will need proxy access to that individual’s OMC MyChart account. If you don't have proxy access, you will need to call the COVID triage line at 507.292.7266 (between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday). 

When you arrive for your COVID-19 test, please remain in your vehicle and use your phone to check-in for the appointment. The check-in phone number is displayed on a banner on the windows of the building. When it is time to enter the building to be tested, you will receive a text message or phone call.


Step-by-Step Instructions for Scheduling an Appointment

Please Note: This self-triage assessment will become part of your medical record so please make sure you answer these questions based on your health condition and not for a family member or friend. After answering questions in OMC MyChart’s Symptom Checker, you can get scheduled for a COVID-19 test.

1) Log in to your OMC MyChart account.

  • If scheduling an appointment for someone else, such as a family member, you will need proxy access to that individual’s OMC MyChart account. If you don't have proxy access, you will need to call the COVID triage line at 507.292.7266 (between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday).

2) Click "Menu" (next to the hamburger menu icon) and then "Symptom Checker."

3) Click "COVID-19 Testing"

4) Answer the questions appropriately that appear.

5) If appropriate, you will be prompted to schedule an appointment. Click "Schedule Appointment" and select a time slot that works for you.

6) Once you have scheduled your appointment, complete the eCheck-In process.

7) Click "Menu" and then "Visits," find your COVID-19 testing appointment and click "eCheck-In."  Review all of the sections.

After your test, while you waiting for the results, you should stay home and away from other people. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should avoid contact with people outside your immediate household until:

  • there is no fever for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever reducers) and
  • your other symptoms have improved.

Remember, OMC MyChart is NOT to be used for urgent needs. For medical emergencies, dial 911.
