Billing Policy

Olmsted Medical Center (OMC) is committed to providing clear information about our billing process and helping patients understand their financial responsibilities.

Payment Expectations

Payment for co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and non-covered services is due at the time of service.
OMC will file insurance claims on your behalf once complete information is provided.

Please note: Insurance verification or pre-certification does not guarantee payment. Contact your insurance company directly for specific coverage details.

Self-Pay Patients

If you do not have insurance, payment in full is requested at the time of your visit.
If payment is not made that day, you will receive a bill for the full amount due.

Price Estimates

It can be difficult to provide an exact price for medical services since care varies based on individual needs.
However, we can provide a price range estimate to help you plan.
When possible, we’ll inform you of your estimated financial responsibility before your procedure or service.

Provider-Based Billing for Medicare Patients

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have designated OMC healthcare providers as “provider-based.”
This means our clinics are considered outpatient hospital departments.

What This Means for You
  • Your care will be billed in two parts:
    • Facility fee (filed to Part A Medicare)
    • Provider fee (filed to Part B Medicare)
  • The total cost of both charges will not exceed what non-Medicare patients pay for the same services.
  • Medicare patients will receive two Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) for OMC clinic services.
  • Both services will appear on your OMC billing statement.

Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Questions

As a participating Medicare provider, OMC is required to ask MSP questions during registration before each appointment.
These questions help determine if another insurance plan should pay before Medicare.
