The name Café 49 honors the year Olmsted Medical Center began—1949, when Dr. Harold (Hal) Wente opened his first family medicine practice in downtown Rochester.
From that small office, OMC has grown into a regional healthcare system with clinics and facilities serving communities across southeastern Minnesota. Naming the café “Café 49” reflects our history and the values that have guided us since the beginning:
- Warm, personal service
- A welcoming, community-centered atmosphere
- Pride in our local roots
Café 49 blends the comfort of a neighborhood coffeehouse with the caring spirit that defines OMC.
