Guidelines for OMC Patients and Visitors

To facilitate patient care and provide a restful and secure environment, it is the policy of Olmsted Medical Center (OMC) to not restrict visitor access except for security purposes and/or special circumstances.

  • Visitors exhibiting COVID-like symptoms, as defined by OMC in conjunction with CDC and MDH guidelines, will not be permitted in OMC facilities.
  • For the health and safety of OMC’s patients, staff, and community, all visitors are expected to comply with all infection control policies/procedures.
  • OMC reserves the right to ask a visitor to leave if inappropriate behavior is observed or a threat is perceived to exist to patients, staff, other visitors, the facility, or prevents the hospital’s ability to provide safe and effective care to patients.
  • Visiting patients is a privilege that patient care staff is allowed to modify at any time based upon the best interest of the patient.
  • OMC patient care staff are allowed to limit or restrict visiting at any time in order to maintain a quiet environment for the patient and/or their roommate.
  • Regular visiting hours are 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM. For security purposes, only authorized visitors are allowed to visit between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
    • Visitors who are authorized to visit after 9:00 PM must sign in with the security guard or the health unit coordinator/admissions staff in the Emergency Department lobby and wear a visitor identification badge
