What is the Patient & Family Advisory Council?
The Patient & Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is a group of patients, family members, and OMC staff who partner to make healthcare better for everyone in our community.
Advisors share personal experiences and ideas to help shape OMC’s programs, policies, and services—ensuring that care is respectful, responsive, and centered on what matters most to patients and families.
What Do PFAC Members Do?
As part of the Council, patient and family advisors:
- collaborate with OMC leadership to improve the quality and safety of care in all settings
- partner with healthcare and support staff to promote Patient and Family Engagement (PFE)
- offer feedback and recommendations to help improve patient and family satisfaction
- advise on policy, planning, and program development
- review educational materials and communication tools for patients
- participate in surveys and focus groups to provide input on key initiatives
- strengthen the connection between OMC and the communities we serve.
Who Can Join?
The Council welcomes patients and family members from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
We aim to represent the diverse healthcare needs, diagnoses, and cultures of those served by OMC.
Meetings and Participation
PFAC meets monthly. Meetings are open for anyone to observe and can be attended in person or by phone.
We understand that transportation, medical needs, or distance may affect participation—so we offer flexible options to ensure all voices are heard.
